Terms and Conditions
A transparent agreement about using our website, offered in the same spirit of trust and mutual good faith as everything else we do.
Effective date: June 1, 2026
Welcome to Kalyani Rugs! Whether you’ve come to browse our hand-knotted rugs, to read about the craft and how rugs live in a home, or to set aside the pieces that move you, we’re glad you’re here. This page explains the understanding between us when you use this website. We’ve written it plainly, in ordinary language, because we’d far rather you read it and feel at ease than wade through legalese.
This website is owned and operated by Karavia, Inc., a California corporation doing business as Kalyani Rugs (referred to here as “we,” “us,” or “our”). When we say “you,” we mean you, the human visitor reading this. By using this website, you’re agreeing to the terms below.
What this website is, and what it isn’t
This site is a place to look, to learn, and to gather. You’ll find a gallery of our rugs, writing about rugs and how to live with them, and a wish list where you can save the pieces you love and send them to us when you’re ready.
What this site does not do is take payments or process orders. There is no checkout here, and nothing ships through the website. When you’re ready to bring a rug home, we handle that the personal way: by phone, by email, or in person at our store in Grass Valley, California. We think choosing a rug deserves a real conversation, and this keeps it that way.
About our rugs, and what a screen can and cannot show
Every rug we offer is a one-of-a-kind work of hand-woven art. Because each is knotted by hand, no two are ever alike, and part of their beauty lies in the small variations that a machine could never make.
Please keep in mind that a photograph on a screen can only show one dimension of a rug. Colors and tones shown here are approximate, and they may look different from one screen to the next, and different again in the light of your own room. Dimensions are given as accurately as we can, with the understanding that handmade pieces carry the gentle irregularities of the human hand. We always encourage you to see a rug in person, or to call us with questions, before you decide. We’re here to help.
Prices and availability
Items shown on this website are subject to availability. Because our rugs are one-of-a-kind, our collection shifts from day to day: a rug you admired may already have found a home by the time you inquire. We do our best to keep the site current, but we can’t guarantee that a particular rug or price shown here will still be available at the moment you reach out. The wish list is a lovely way to let us know what you’re drawn to so we can confirm what’s still with us.
The wish list
The wish list lets you gather the rugs that speak to you and, when you’re ready, send that list to us. If you submit it with your contact information, we’ll receive a copy along with your chosen rugs so we can continue the conversation, confirm availability, and, if you’d like, have those rugs ready to show you at the shop, or ship. How we handle the information you share is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms by reference.
Buying a rug, and our returns
All purchases are completed offline, by phone or in person at our Grass Valley store, never through this website. When you do purchase from us, the following applies:
Returns, exchanges, and all claims for items purchased must be accompanied by the original receipt within 7 days. No refunds or exchanges for items altered in any way.
If you ever have a question about a purchase, please just reach out.
Using this website kindly and lawfully
We ask only that you use this website in good faith and within the law. Please don’t attempt to disrupt, damage, or gain improper access to the site or its systems, don’t use it to harm others, and don’t misuse the wish list or our contact forms to send spam, harmful content, or anything unlawful.
How you use this website, and what information you choose to share with us, is your responsibility. You’re responsible for the accuracy of what you send us and for keeping your own devices and accounts secure. If you use this site in a way that causes harm or breaks these terms, we may limit or end your access.

Everything on this website, including the photographs of our rugs, our writing, our descriptions, the design, the logo, and the arrangement of it all, is the property of Kalyani Rugs and is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
These images and words are the fruit of real care and craft, and they represent our work and our name. No part of this website may be copied, reproduced, republished, or used in any way without our written permission. If you’d like to use something such as a photo or a passage of writing, please just ask. We’re more likely to say yes when we know how and where it will be used.
Links to other places on the web
Now and then our writing or gallery may point you to another website we think is worth a look. Once you leave our site, you’re in someone else’s hands. We don’t run those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or their practices, so we encourage you to use your own good judgment when you visit them.
The website as it is
We offer this website, and everything on it, in good faith and “as is.” We work hard to keep the information here accurate and the site running smoothly, but we can’t promise it will always be complete, error-free, current, or available without interruption. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we make no warranties of any kind about the website or its contents, and any implied warranties are disclaimed. If you spot something that looks wrong, we’d be grateful if you’d tell us so we can correct it.
Where our responsibility ends
Please use this website with the same common sense you’d bring anywhere online. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Kalyani Rugs (and Karavia, Inc., together with our owners, officers, and staff) will not be liable for any injury, loss, or damages of any kind arising out of your use of this website or your reliance on anything found here. Your use of the site, and the information you choose to give us, is at your own discretion and responsibility.
By using this website, you also agree to hold Kalyani Rugs and Karavia, Inc. harmless from, and to indemnify us against, any claims, losses, or costs that arise from your own use of the site, from your breach of these terms, or from your violation of any law or the rights of another. In plain terms: each of us is responsible for our own conduct, and you agree not to hold us accountable for how you choose to use the site.
Your privacy
We treat the information you share with the same care described in our Privacy Policy. We don’t sell it, we don’t track you across the internet, and we collect only what we need to help you. That policy is part of these terms, and we encourage you to read it.
Changes to these terms
If our practices change, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. When a change is significant, we’ll do our best to make it known. Your continued use of the website after an update means you accept the revised terms, so feel free to check back now and then.
The law that guides us
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any disputes will be handled in the courts of Nevada County, California.
