Inspired by the centuries-old weaving traditions of the Qashqai of Fars, a tribal confederacy in southwestern Iran made up of Turkic-speaking pastoral people whose rugs are known for strong natural color and a lively mix of geometric, floral, animal, and symbolic motifs. Qashqai designs reflect a long exchange with Persian village weaving while retaining a distinctly tribal character. Tree of Life and cypress forms, together with birds and animals, draw on themes of growth, continuity, nature, and pastoral life.
