Kashan

An Afghan all-over floral Kashan rug, knotted by hand with hand-carded, hand-spun, vegetable-dyed wool. Very fine weave.

A classic design inspired by the weaving traditions of central Persia, where from the 16th century, under Safavid patronage, Kashan became renowned as a center for luxurious carpet production, with masterpieces woven by skilled local craftspeople, both men and women. The popularity of Kashan designs has endured for centuries.
