Ferahan
An Afghan Ferahan rug, knotted by hand with hand-carded, hand-spun, vegetable-dyed wool by master weavers in northern Afghanistan.
A classic design inspired by the distinguished weaving traditions of the Ferahan region of central Persia, where skilled village weavers developed a refined regional carpet tradition that flourished during the nineteenth century. Woven in both cottage and workshop settings, Ferahan carpets became especially celebrated for their finely drawn floral, diamond and leaf designs. This borderless rendition gives the all-over floral design its distinct, free-flowing character.
