Bijar
A center medallion Bijar rug, knotted by hand with hand-carded, hand-spun, vegetable-dyed wool, woven by master weavers in India.
Inspired by the distinguished weaving traditions of Bijar in Persian Kurdistan, where village craftsmanship and refined Persian design came together in some of the nineteenth century’s most admired carpets. The bold medallion and floral forms have roots in the classical Persian carpet designs of the sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Safavid period, and were reinterpreted by Persian weavers over succeeding centuries.
