Heriz

An Afghan Heriz center medallion rug, knotted by hand with hand-carded, hand-spun, vegetable-dyed wool.

A historic design with roots in the village weaving traditions of the Heriz region of northwestern Persia, woven today by master weavers in northern Afghanistan. A grand, stepped center medallion and stylized floral designs are framed by a border of Herati medallion and leaf motifs.
