Woven by master weavers in northern Afghanistan, Bakshaish rugs originated in the village of Bakshaish near Heriz in northwestern Persia, where village weavers developed their distinctive geometric style. The richly detailed field of Tree of Life motifs, willows and cypresses evokes the splendor of a Persian garden.
