Mogoli Kilim
An Afghan Mogoli kilim rug, handwoven with hand-carded, hand-spun, vegetable-dyed wool. Flat weave.
The Moghol people of Afghanistan trace their origins to Mongol troops who settled in the region following the Mongol conquests of the thirteenth century. Today, Mogoli weavers in northern Afghanistan produce distinctive flat-weaves, enriched by the geometric design vocabulary of Persian tribal textiles, with dense, tightly woven wool, rich natural colors of madder, indigo, and walnut, and bold geometric forms.
